TU says FU

Recommended Posts

Many of us have received the standard reply from the CRA's once we have begun the dispute process about using "credit repair agencies" and the like. TU sent me a letter yesterday stating that because "you are using a credit repair agency" we will not accept your request re my dispute. Read again-they are refusing my right to dispute. I am not of course using a "credit repair agency." I have my reply ready to go CMRR today as well as filling a formal complaint with the AG here in CA-which are pretty good in consumer rights issues. I let TU know I would be filling with them as well as providing me compelling documentation in my complaint against them.

When I got the letter yesterday I called TU and chewed their asses out-the rep said ignore the letter etc etc.

I still will f/u in the original 30 day frame and take it from there.

If any of you get one of these letters from any of the CRA's don't let it slide-esp an outright refusal to dispute-contact your AG and let them "release the hounds."

Are they going to honor your request since you called them? I got the same letter a couple of days ago and was trying to decide if I should wait out the 30 days and see what happens or if I should call them to make sure they were actually investigating the items. Funny thing is, DH & I sent out the exact same dispute letter (about 3 weeks apart), only difference was the items that we were disputing (he had about 15 and I had 5). I got the same letter you got but DH got a letter giving him a list of all of the creditors on his report with address for him to contact them. They did complete his investigation within 30 days with no further correspondence with him. It seems like they just have different form letters they send out when they receive dispute requests.

I will do as you stated though, and contact my AG to let them know.

Intially when I called them I was feeling punative and re-disputed the original TL by phone. Thinking about this further I will hold them to the original 30 day window. I am sure they did this because time was running out. Bastards.

The same thing happened to me also. This is my 2nd round. Today I called them to intiate an investigation over the phone since they didn't start investigating when they received my letter. So the 30 days starts from today. I went on-line and it is marked as in dispute. So I am glad for that. I have much better results with on-line or phone disputes. Every time I send a CMRRR letter I get bull sheot letters back from them stating - already investigated or you did not tell us what you are disputing etc...and in my letters I do specifically say why I am disputing the account. I always dispute a different tradeline too.

So I feel that I have wasted alot of money in CMRRR letters to theses CRA's.
