paw67
I disputed 4 things online with EXP. 2 were collections from the same company (1 was deleted the other verified) 1 was a charged off account that I was an au on (verified) and the last was another charge off (verified but updated to say paid in settlement for less than full balance). I sent them a procedure request letter which they received on 4/19/03. They responded with 3 separate letters. The first one says we received your dispute and are looking into it. 2nd letter (dated same as 1st) says we cannot investigate these 3 items because you didn't specify what the problem was. 3rd letter arrived the next day stating that they couldn't investigate because they had already done so. Ok, I was NOT asking them to investigate I was asking for the procedures used to verify. Now what should I do? It has been 19 days since they received it and in the letter I gave them 15 to respond. I will give it a couple of more days because they may have mailed something but I believe, that by the letters that I mentioned above, they are not going to provide me with the procedures used to verify. Please help!! Thanks in advance.paw67
Capepuffin
I got the same response as you. The CRA said that I had to contact the OC. What is up with that? Why do I need to do their job? I asked for the procedures also, they said that they either call, write or compare computer printouts on accounts with the OC. They did not say how mine was verified. So I'm in the same boat as you! paw67
cape, I posted the same question on another board and was told that my next step needs to be an ITS (intent to sue) letter. They are required to provide the procedures used to verify the information. I plan on giving them a few more days so that they have actually had 15 business days to respond then I will send the ITS letter out. I hope that I don't have to sue but I guess the extra $$$ could come in handy.paw67p.s. I just checked the calendar and the 15 business days will be up tomorrow so I will give them until Monday's mail and if there is no response I will fire off the ITS letter. This could get interesting.
