Anonymous
I am frustrated beyond belief! I almost think it would have been better not to dispute anything. Just keep taking the crap dealt out even though some of these accounts aren't even mine!!! I just got my updated credit report and two of them have them listed as being on there for one year longer than the report I received just a few weeks ago. What is this? Punishment for daring to question anything? Also, I asked them to provide me with names of who they spoke to and they didn't just listed things as verified and remain unchanged. One of them they are showing as a balance owing for AMEX and I told them it is outdated that it shouldn't even be on there. AMEX even verified this over the phone. Guess what? Now they have it listed on there that it will be on there until 7-2009? I need advice please! I have had it with Experian and the way they half-a$$ do their job and just make stuff up as they go along. Any help or encouragement would be greatly appreciated! admin
They provide you with verification information within 15 days of the investigation. I'd write again and ask them for the verification details, cite the right FCRA passage.
Anonymous
Which passage would that be please? They told me they don't talk to specific people because they just mail out a letter and wait for response.
Anonymous
I'm new at this but with regard to your AmEx situation, write to Am Ex explaining that on ? date, a rep (name them, if possible) verbally stated to you and Experian that there was (describe inconsistency) incorrect info. Explain that you require AmExp to further state this in writing as you are finding multiple errors in reporting. Then you will send the letter (A copy only, certified mail) from AmExp as evidence of the error and demand removal. Not sure if you've tried this, but can be helpful for you I think. Swede
§ 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]( Contents. As part of, or in addition to, the notice under subparagraph (A), a consumer reporting agency shall provide to a consumer in writing before the expiration of the 5-day period referred to in subparagraph (A) (i) a statement that the reinvestigation is completed;(ii) a consumer report that is based upon the consumer's file as that file is revised as a result of the reinvestigation;(iii) a notice that, if requested by the consumer, a description of the procedure used to determine the accuracy and completeness of the information shall be provided to the consumer by the agency, including the business name and address of any furnisher of information contacted in connection with such information and the telephone number of such furnisher, if reasonably available;(7) Description of reinvestigation procedure. A consumer reporting agency shall provide to a consumer a description referred to in paragraph (6)((iii) by not later than 15 days after receiving a request from the consumer for that description.I'd give it a shot, but I've requested it twice from Equifax and not even gotten a reply. I'm racking up a ton of violations on them though. [Edit by Swede on Sunday, August 11, 2002 @ 04:32 PM]
