Great Western bank reported me to the checkrite system for supposedly writing a bum check in 1995. I haven't been able to open a checking account in 8 years!!! Part of the reason my credit sucks so much is it's a pain in the butt to go get money orders all the time, so I'm always late. I have posted information for ChexSystems which is the major bad check reporting system that most banks look into before opening a new account. If you have a way to contact them, the procedure would be the same for ChexSystems. Look into the thread under credit repair started by me. There are some links. Basically you need a copy of the report that you've requested from them. If you can't get the address or phone number, call the bank that reported you to get the information. Then start like you would for verifying any credit information for a CRA. I would also pull ChexSystems report (www.chexhelp.com) to see if they are reporting you as well. Find out what info is listed on the report and dispute it as "not mine". ADSOFT has had success in getting off ChexSystems and I would imagine they are all pretty much the same.Hope that helps!
