Equifax not verifying?

Recommended Posts

I always have this problem. I have not once been able to pull a report from the Equifax website. It keeps saying that it failed to verify the account. I hate to have it sent to me via snail mail. Should I call them about this and find out why?

Thanks

This happened to me, and I called and bitched at them about it. They kept asking me questions about a mortgage I've never had.. the girl on the phone said that they do that intentionally to get at least 75% of the people who ask for a credit report to call in, where they have to run a gambit of "please give us money for your credit report" options before getting to a rep to get a free one.

Anyone have a Equifax 800 number to actually talk to a human being? On their site it requires you to login and get the number from your credit report. that is the problem, I cant do that! Then on their help page if internet/site issues, login and go to contact us screen. That makes sense

Called them up yesterday and the problem was they had a incorrect address listed. Which brings me to the next question, what if a negative report has me at a address they never had listed on my credit report? Does it matter? Because Equifax has 3 addresses for me and when I called they went ahead and deleted 2 or said they were going to delete the 2. So that leaves one place listed and the negative accounts go to different addresses not on file

Thanks

Some data in the credit report is solely related to the address; so by severing the relationship you can sometimes get rid of negative tradelines.

There can be a few reasons why other collections missing from the credit report:

1. could be the collection company does not report at all.

2. could be the collection company reported an address that is not on your credit report at this time to make the link.

So you want to make sure never to give prior addresses on applications making the link possible for the data to be pulled in.

Sometimes - you can't get credit reports online if you have recently moved. Same thing with ordering by phone - the CRA will need confirmation of address on Drivers license to update the credit report & forward copy.

Another way to get their attention sooner is using fax: I can get them numbers for you should you like; or do a search to locate here yourself.
