bayview
I've been reading the posts each day since I joined and I think I'm ready to join the "Great Dispute Game" with the CRAs. I filed bk in 7/00 and just pulled my EqF file. Whew--what a mess! Can someone help me get started and try to understand the impact of some of these notes? for example, there are a s___load of inquiries going back to 5/02, some listed as prm and many AR. Can I dispute these as no permission given, and why do the creditors do a periodic review (according to the AR definition) of my credit history if they were included in the bk?Next--please bear with me--also on the credit file, it shows a "date reported" as 2/03, for example a Cap.One CC with a date of last activity 12/98, "acct. incl.in bk". What are they looking for, or moreso, what are they looking to do!(paranoia is seeping in). Any and all help would be appreciated by those of you who have a braintrust on this subject. tracy_1
As far as AR and PRM these are soft inquiries and don't have an impact on your score. Also these inquiries are not reported to businesses.
ericasf
Does anyone know what it means when it says CD, ID, or FK next to an inquiry?
bayview
Thanks Tracy_1 for clearing that up, any info on the other dates and why they keep reporting?
tracy_1
Sorry bayview I am not sure what that means to your report. Perhaps a Veteran Member can offer some insight.
raisingmyscore
Disoute any inquiries by calling, faxing or mailing.Equifax-call- they will wipe them out in 3 daysTU-fax a request in, look around the boards fax #'s everywhere.Experian-snailmail is the only way to go as far as INQ disputes go.The following is driectly from an Equifax report detailing codes-THE FOLLOWING INQUIRIES ARE NOT REPORTED TO BUSINESSES:PRM - This is a promotional inquiry in which only your name and address were given to a credit grantor so you could be solicited with an offer such as a credit card. (PRM inquiries remain on file for 12 months.)AM or AR - These inquiries indicate a periodic review of your credit history by one of your creditors (AM and AR inquiries remain on file for 12 months.)EQUIFAX, ACIS or UPDATE - These inquiries indicate Equifax's activity in response to your contact with us for either a copy of your credit file or a request for research.PRM, AM, AR, INQ, EQUIFAX, ACIS and UPDATE inquiries do not show on credit files that businesses receive, only on copies provided to you. ericasf
Thanks, raisingmyscore. But that's where I am confused. Because there are a few inquiries that have notations other than what Equifax listed. And i have no idea what they mean.
bayview
thanks for the feedback. So, when I dispute, I can name all the inquiries and tell Eqf that I have no knowledge of these inq.?
raisingmyscore
Thats right. Call equifax and tell them you have no idea how or why XXX pulled your credit report since you never authorized them to do so, or never had an account with them. raisingmyscore
Erica- Give them a call, ask them to explain them to you and tell them you want each one off because you never authorized them.

lisak72
Hey Bayview...in response to this section:"Next--please bear with me--also on the credit file, it shows a "date reported" as 2/03, for example a Cap.One CC with a date of last activity 12/98, "acct. incl.in bk". It doesn't mean anything as far as the date it should fall off...just means they are keeping the records up to date in their system. Possibly meaning you would have a hard time disputing because they have kept your information on record and they will verify with the CRA.
bayview
Great lisa--just what I need, another hill to climb. But I'm still not clear on what info Cap1 is reporting since that acct. went to bk.
