3 inquiries gone from EQ

Recommended Posts

Just noticed on PG today that I have had 3 inquiries bumped off EQ in the last couple of days. I'm so excited, only 5 more to go and I won't have any on EQ. I kept seeing other post about this happening and was hoping it would happen for me and YEA, it is. My PG score has gone up 5 points.

Be careful of causing a split file - these are a nightmare for the CRAs to fix. This happens if you file gets too much information caused by all the soft inquiries added.

Split file - will cause two credit scores / no fair either as to which tradelines get thrown into which file.

Getting inq off EQ is alot easier than you think! (raisingmyscore shared a nice little tip with us about this ;) ) I personally got 9 off just by calling. They were legit inq.

EQ will generally take off inq if you do not have an account associated with them. Call them up and tell them the inq were unauthorized. They will put them under investigation, next thing you know....BAM! (I love Emeril :D ) They're gone!

If by chance your told that they wont investigate, hang up and call again. They WILL do it!!

Ive gotten a total of 20 gone, considering each one is worth a couple points you can bet it should bring your score up a tad.

TU and EX are another story. Ive gotten 3 removed just by sending them a nasty letter, and 3 more removed from bumpage.

I sent a nasty letter to EX last week and havent heard back from them yet.

Its worth a shot! :p

Morrow,

Thanks for the info but I really don't want to ask them to take off something that is legit. Now if it falls off, because of their system limitations that's another story. BTW I really don't have many hard inquires on any of my reports. On EFX, I have 3 and on TU and EXP, I have zero. I really don't apply for credit.

Crabjoe, how long before these inq fall off?

If you want you can easily just call EQ up and put them under investigation. It will not affect your current investigation, if you have any pending right now.

Each inq is worth a couple points so you could very easily get these off and possibly get your score up.

EVERY ONE of my inq has been legit!! And Ive gotten a total of 20 off EQ.!! Its worth a shot!

EASY TO GET INQUIRIES OFF EX & EQ. TU HARDER.

EQ Technique:

Call them up (888 873-5357) and tell them that you don't recognize the inquiries and that you never authorized them. That's it. They will tell you that they'll put in dispute for 21-30 days but in reality they take it off in a few days. THAT'S IT FOLKS!!!

EX Technique:

Call them up (800 583-4080) and ask for their fraud department, tell them you have inquiries that you did not authorize and that you don't recognize. They WILL put them under investigation for 30 days and then delete them. Not one that my girlfriend & me dispute (over 20) have ever been verified.

They may ask you if you would like to put a fraud alert on your account. You can do that if you like, you can do that if you like. To cancel it at any time you just call them back up and tell them to cancel it and they will cancel it within 7 days.

It may help if you put a fraud alert first and then 2 days later make the call. It adds a little validity to your claims.

THAT'S IT FOLKS!!

TU Technique (I've heard about)

1) Threaten to sue after following up with letters sent CRRR.

2) Sob stories (my girlfriend got all hers off with this technique)

3) Bumpage

I got a letter from EQ today. I thought, "oh great, they can't investigate inquiries" (I sent the fax last week). I opened it and they tell me they removed 9 inquiries. Only a few more to go, including the hards from PG that are still on there.

Thank you all for the great advice!:)

I'm going to try the route with EX and am still screwing with TU (it appears they commuted my sentence and removed the flag from my account though, the dirty pricks).

crabjoe,

I have been pulling PG since around March 31st and just this past week started to see them fall off. By the time bumpage actually started I had 8 inq's to get rid of and now, as of today, I am down to 3 and my PG score has gone up 12 points with 5 falling off. Also, got the only inq on TU bumped off as of this morning. DH also lost his only inq on TU today.

As Morrow said, you can try to call them as many people seem to have had success. The reason that I didn't was because 5 of the inq's were for Household bank and I have an account with them so I'm sure they wouldn't investigate those.

Just keep pulling PG and it will happen. I was skeptical at first, especially since I only had 8 and others seemed to have quite a few more but with some patience it actually works.

Good luck!

After reading this I was curious.. my score has dropped dramatically over the last few months and I couldn't figure out why.. well I just looked and found over 40 unauthorized inquiries from mortgage lenders and similar companies. I am currently trying to get a mortgage, but have been working with ONE lender.. and I recognized his pulls but all the others are bogus.

DocDon, what was the fax number to send disputes to Equifax? I can't find one anywhere...

Thanks to everyone (:

If these are on your EQ report, check to see if they are coded "PRM" in front of the company's name. Those are limited info off your credit report that is marketed to other companies for offers of credit, etc. They do not hurt your score at all. Those entries are where all those pre-approved credit offers come from.

According to EQ, they will drop off in 1 year. You can also Opt-Out with EQ, TU, and EX to prevent marketers from obtaining this limited info about you.

Call: 1-888-5-OPTOUT

Contact all three CRAs requesting removal of your name from marketing lists:

Equifax Opt Out at:

Equifax Inc

PO Box 740123

TransUnion Opt Out at:

TransUnion LLC

Name Removal Option

PO Box 97328

Jackson, MS 39288

Experian Opt Out at:

1-800-353-0809

Write directly to the Direct Marketing Association at either/or both addresses to opt out of pre-approved offer. Include all pertinent information, including your full name, current address, and home telephone number.

Direct Marketing Association

I also opt-out with each of my creditors individually, and add an "opt-out" statement in all correspondence with businesses I need to contact.

My junk mail and telemarketing calls have been reduced to almost nothing.

Sakia, I have heard other people with the same problem. Did you have a lot of things on your report when this happened? My report doesn't have alot on it. Currently has 3 inq's and 10 tl's so hopefully I'll be ok. I do worry about DH's doing that, but we have had quite a few deletions on his EQ so hopefully it is enough to keep it from splitting.

Idontpay - pg bumpage works on EQ & TU but apparently nothing works on EXP. I have been pulling pg for DH & I since the beginning of April and to date, have had 5 inq's off my EQ, 1 off TU and DH has had 2 off TU & 2 off EQ. It does work but it takes a while and I have seen several people say that it has caused their file to split so it is necessary to be careful.

by pulling your report with PG, do you just 'get another report' you don't pay your dollar everyday do you? also what does split mean? i only have 4 positive tradelines. maybe it will split that s*** down the middle, they can have EQ's 2 neg trades and TU's 5 neg trades.

A split file happens when you have too much information on your report and therefore, you end up with 2 files. Some people on this site have had that problem and from what I understand it can be a real nightmare.
