Anonymous
Okay, I think I addressed this in another thread but I have been sitting here for 2 hours searching for it and I CAN"T FIND IT.so i had this charge off for a gas card 63 bucks from forever ago... the oldest thing on my report next to my deferred student loans... the term was only 1 month on this gas card in 1996. so even thought it was negative it was old... when it was deleted my score went from 621 to 619. i still have the CA on there as paid collection and 2 other measily collections for med bills that will drop next week (i hope) the only positive trades i have are the old student loans in grace (waiting for consoliation to take over) and a first premier 250 limit no lates (i have had this for nine months....SO, i really thought that this charge off would be a big damn deal, but why the two point drop? any advice? so if the collections come off will this make it worse too??? i just want to buy a fricken honda, this is getting so annoying. how do you guys persevere? i wanna pull my hair out waiting and waiting!!! kb9tbq
Well the older the tradeline the less it is contributing to the credit score. How old are the collection accounts yet to come off?Least you look on the bright side and know that you have a clean slate when all is said and done. Just work on establishing good payment history, and it will eventually start to climb back up, minus the negative information.
Johnnyc
It happens if your credit file is thin and your negs are your oldest TLs.Also that limit you have on that card of yours is kinda low, so charging even over a hundred bucks on it can make your scores go down.If you can, get authorized on some quality accounts and avoid opening any yourself in the short term. That should boost your scores in the short term. [Edit by Johnnyc on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 @ 08:39 PM]

Anonymous
oh yeah, would you recommend being an AU on someone's account that is new? i know someone who will put me on, but he just got the card (household union plus) do you think that is okay? kb9tbq
Collections from 1999 - 4 years old. Should not bear so much on the score, but you may see an increase just can't say by how much.I would not recommend getting included on a new tradeline as an authorized user, usually score initially drops when first starting out. Think you would be experiencing the same thing as the original card holder in this case. Still keep it in mind, but wait for this to age some, later being of more benefit.
