VeeGee
Hi everyone, I was talking to a representative from Experian about fico scores. I told her that I needed to see mine and my DH's fico scores...not the one's we all see when we order each credit report individually from all 3 bureaus (which I already have). I want to see the REAL fico score "lenders" look at. I also asked her if we have 3 fico scores with each bureau? She told me we only have ONE fico score and that is the score the lenders look at. She then directed me to the site called "myfico.com"...I logged on to this site and it is saying we have 3 fico scores with all 3 bureaus???? Here is what it says:You have three FICO scores - one from each national credit bureau. Your FICO scores are a measure of your financial responsibility, based on your credit history. Most lenders will look at your FICO scores when evaluating your credit or loan applications. Now I am confused lol. What is the deal here? Do we have 1 or 3 fico scores? I really need to know because a loan is pending on our REAL fico score. Does anyone out there know? I would appreciate anyone's help here. Thanx
crofttk
Don't know if I covered this when we spoke before. What's recent NEWS to all of us here is that myFICO.com JUST IN THE LAST WEEK OR SO made the Experian FICO score available to consumers. Up unitl then it had been only EQ and TU FICO scores we could get.I don't have a clue what that CSR was talking about. Maybe, as far as they are concerned, the EX FICO is the only one that matters ???The only way ONE score makes sense to me is that (maybe I said this to you before ???) what I've read (and experienced for myself) is that a mortgage lender will pull all 3 of your FICO scores and use the MIDDLE of the 3, regardless which CRA it is, to rate you against the mortgage program's requirements.HTH.And, especially if I'm saying what I said before, please anybody else chip in here if you have a different answer for Betty Boop ! VeeGee
Thanx crofttk...you did explain this to me before and I totally understood it. I do apologize if I sound like I'm repeating myself (betty boop has that right you know) lol. But when I spoke to this Rep at EX...she was insisting there is only 1 fico score. Maybe she meant the middle of the 3 just like you said in your response to me. Okay with all that said and done...I will purchase all 3 fico scores. Thank you so much for being patient with me...I promise I will NOT repeat this question again lol.
md
It seems to me that she was referring to one EX FICO score. When you were asking here about whether there was three of them she may have took that as three EX FICO scores. You definitely have three distinct FICO scores. kb9tbq
crofttk is right - about the lenders using just one of the 3 CRAs scores to base approval. Now the rep was right that there is only one FICO version but only partially - this breaks down to different models - all depends on what industry is pulling the scores to determine which model is being used. They may mean that their is only one FICO version / model used for the consumer side - but the lender side is a totally different matter.Examples of the scores Experian FICO sells to businesses look here:www.experian.com/products/fair_isaac.html
crofttk
Originally posted by Idon'tpayclarification: these (fico) are not the scores we see when we order..(eq credit watch...
I'm almost certain when you buy direct from EQ you will get the FICO score (single report, credit watch, etc.). I'm not even sure you can get ANYTHING from EQ besides FICO, perhaps you can alternatively get CrediXpert score from EQ ?The other two, default scores are crap. Make sure you get TU FICO (at transunioncs.com or myFICO.com) and EX FICO (only at myFICO.com, AFAIK).[Edit by crofttk on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 @ 07:08 PM]
