Bela
Hi EveryoneI live in the USA for 4 months a year and the rest in Canada.I have and excellent credit file in Canada and trying to find a way to have EquifaxCanada and TranUnionCanada to send a copy of my Canadian credit file good records to their sister companies in the USA where I would like also to establish a good credit file.1- Anyone have an idea if this is feasable ?2- How to do it ?3- Which good bank card issuer(S) may use my Canadian Credit File to evaluate my credit worthiness and issue me Card ?4- Any other suggestions ?PS: In Canada I have an MBNA-Canada MC ($7,500) and an Amex-Canada ($17,500). Both card issuers can not (or are not willing) to issue an Authorized user on my card for the USA. And their offices can not (or are not willing) to issue me a card by evaluating my Canadian Credit file. I do have a US address, a US phone, a US Tax id that I am using as my SS#, and my employer operates in the US. My US credit file is completely empty: nothing bad or good in it.Thanks to all
kimber6337
Chances are the CRA's won't send the file to their sister companies. They really don't care what the other is reporting, as the 3 US based CRA's here don't care what the other is reporting.Your best bet is to call the creditors and ask if they will report to your US Credit file or just live with your Canadian file and use your Canadian CC's here. But I'm not sure how they would report to your file. Do you have a Social Security Number for the US. I'm sure someone here knows how you could get a file if you don't have a SSN to report on though. Bela
Thanks kimber6337 for your reply1- I called the 2 CRAs in Canada and you are absolutely right they don't care bout (or send my file to) their US sister companies. I also tried to call all 3 US CRAs, it's impossible to get hold of a humain being.2- Very often I feel abused with the Credit Card Currency Exchange rates and I very often buy US goods and services. That's why I want to establish a credit file in the US and have US credit cards.3- I'll try to have my actual Canadian Credit Card Issuers to also report to US CRAs but I doubt they will accept it because they already refused to issue me an Authorized User Card in US dollars.4- I do have a US Tax Id that I am using for my personal banking purposes. I use that Tax Id as my SSN.I didn't check my US credit file but I am sure there is nothing good or bad in it, only inquiries, if any. I wish It could reflect my excellent Canadian credit file. Thanks again for reply
kimber6337
Start then to find a local Canadian bank that has US offices also, if there is such a thing. You might find one there that you can get an account will report to both countries CRA's and possibly give you both the US and Canadian cards. If you hold a US job, possibly their affiliated Credit Union can help also. Open a US bank account, with cash in that and good account history you could possibly qualify for thier Bank's charge card or maybe just use it as a Visa Check card. At least then you would have some control over what you pay for exchange rates. You may need to start with builder cards. Basically a card that you have, charge once every month or so and pay off every cycle. But first, pull your US reports. See what is on there just for giggles. If you are planning on staying in the United States, you will get credit Card from Them, depending on your Credit File from Canada.. MBNA has an Office in Ontario.......Good LUck
Bela
Thanks for your reply rubyjeanI called MBNA-Canada and explained my situation they gave a number which is supposed to be MBNA-US but when I called them they (the sup and the rep) said they can not pull a Canadian Credit file. They can only take my application and pull my US credit file, what I do not want because I know my appl. will be declined: my US credit file is supposed to have only inquiries, if any.You have an excellent suggestion and it makes sense, but MBNA-US can not make it work. Thanks again for your reply

If you have a residence in the United States for four months out of the year, and if you are a preferred professional, you can be approved for a Card.. I will get the exact number that you will need to call, You can try this number 800-545-7899, it is for one of the most popular Affinity cards that MBNA has, it is the Triple AAA platinum Visa card which has the 5% gas rebate as well as 7.9 fixed apr.. Of course your US credit file will be empty because you have not had credit crds , ect in the US... If you Canadien CBR is in good shape, and especially you MBNA trade is in good standing, you should be able to get a Card, maybe with a low credit line at first, but in time it would increase..The number that I gave you might not be the exact tel to the telesales department, but they should be able to put you in the right direction.. If you happen to get an application with Instant decisioning , make sure that you ask the analyst if they can have a copy of Canadien CBR pulled, if they say they can't make sure that you again ask for a Manager.. It is done all of the time...Good Luck again</blockquote>
