Another Re-Aged Account

Grrr, there is an account on EX from Verizon Wireless. It is from 1992 - that should be the DOLA...I know it was no later than 1993.

According to EX, the DOLA is the charge-off in 1997! Could they really wait 4 years to charge it off???

I disputed with CRA, it came back verified. Since it's an OC, now what? Should I send my OC letter to them? I think I know that is the answer, but I'm so frustrated and tired of fighting right now...I just can't believe they verified! (almost $100 so far in CMRRR letters and all because I never checked my CR after my divorce to see what was going on!)

As always, thanks to everyone for support and advice!

No, the clock starts at the initial missed payment that led to the delinquency. They can't arbitrarily charge it off whenever they want.

First you need to find out who's re-aging it. Is it EX or the OC? Check your other reports, that should tell you. If the OC, yes, send a letter quoting the FCRA and incorrect reporting, track it and dispute again using a different reason once you know they have your letter. They can't respond without a notice of your dispute which they normally "forget", creating a violation to use in your favor.
