Discover? Nice?

Recommended Posts

Okay, a few months ago, I settled with Discover and there's still a balance showing on my credit reports. I've been disputing and it keeps coming back verified. Finally, I gave in and called up Discover. I gave my account information to the first person I talked to and they were really rude (what a surprise) and said that my account had been forwarded to an attorney and I had to contact them. And I said, I already paid a settlement to the attorney and it's still showing a balance on my credit report and she put me on hold. Well the lady that picked up the phone was super nice! (I guess that's what happens when you pay them.) And she said that the attorney's office sent them the payment but never sent the paperwork for the settlement. She said she would give them a call to get the paperwork, send an update to the CRAs and a copy to me. I really want the TL gone but I can't get a house (or a security clearance) until there's a zero balance. I'm just so shocked and amazed that she was so nice to me over the phone. Let's see if she keeps her promise though.

That is great news, well at least you get accomplished what you can when you can, you can still continue to dispute this account by all means after the update to paid, to see if you can't in the future bump this tradeline off of your credit report.

Least you know you can get it to at least reflect paid, to move on with mortgage. :-)

Techgodesss,

You should still be able to get the house with the balance showing on your reports. Just bring them all paperwork you have on the settlement and all copies of mony orders, etc. I had 3 collection accounts still showing on my reports that were paid. Proof of payment was all the Bank needed to approve my mortgage. Get the mortgage while waiting for TL's to be removed.

There is a difference on that part, some lenders will accept documentation proving the matter, and some will want the CRA to be updated to show the fact of the matter & to have the scoring re-done prior to loan.

But worth trying to get the lender to move first with out having to go the long way.
