Randysbarb
I was wondering if anyone knows if having a paid collection vs. an unpaid collection on your record makes a difference in your fico? Also I have several accounts with a zero balance paid as agreed I1 and R1. They are actually closed but are showing as still open on EQ and TU. If I have the relisted to show as closed would that make a difference? Please help.
kb9tbq
The older negative information gets the less it bears on your credit scores, usually if you pay on a collection they are changing the age of last activity thus pulling it back recent to hurt your credit scores. So if you pay the collection it it best to negotiate with the collection agency for deletion. If you no longer have these accounts open, then call the creditor to make sure they are closed, I have heard of people thinking they where closed; just to later become a victim of id theft. So reporting these closed is more important for your protection then for the scores. I think it will most times reflect bad on the scores, since it will shrink what your available credit is. But I would give that part up to make sure someone can't mess with you.
sisflomi
Don't dispute these as closed with cras, they will most likely just delete the entire good account. Do like kb says and call the creditors.
