solponig
I received a summons today regarding some old medical bills. I need to know if they are allowed to take legal action against me without first giving me 30 days to have the debt validated. Nothing was mentioned regarding validation. I have not heard anything from this collection agency in at least three years until I found the summons on my door. Are they required to inform me of my rights to request validation of this debt since I haven't heard from them in three years? Isn't this a violation of the FDCPA? Somebody please help. sisflomi
I am going to look up some ftc opinions for you. I need your state and when these medical bills are from. Do you know the date of service? Have you paid anything on them at all? How much is it for?
solponig
Thanks for your reply. I am in Indiana. I don't know what accounts I am being sued for. I just know the CA's name. All I know is the only accounts I have with this CA are medical bills. Nothing has been paid on them. Some of the dates of service are:96,98, 2001. The thing that is really strange about this is that they put my name and my wife's name on the summons. We both have med. bills with this CA, so I guess their suing us at the same time for different accounts. Thanks for your help.
