browneyedgurl4
I recently disputed a dept. store credit card on my TU report as showing up duplicated. I have only ever had one cc from this company and it shows up twice on my credit file. It has 2 different acct. # Both listed as settled less than full balance. One is listed as a revolving acct. the other as an installment account. I just got a letter from TU stating that "although you may have only one account with a creditor, that creditor can report it as two different account types, including revolving, open-ended, installment, line of credit," etc...How can a creditor list the SAME acct. twice on my credit and that be legal? Any help with this one would be appreciated!!
kb9tbq
I had the same problem with JC Penney - they will list a revolving account, but when they give special deals even though you purchased on the credit card they will list it as an installment account.Of course that is not a totally bad thing if you want good credit, but definitely not good with two bad tradelines.Need to read their terms of agreement, see what might have been overlooked on this part. That had been years ago, can't remember if I did get that one off my credit report. But I know today I don't see but one.
Trying*Hard
I have the same problem, same acct but duplicate with different account #, so i disputed and they sent me the same letter, so i called and the representative said that it was a letter explaining the reason for the duplications but they still have to investigate it, it hasn't been 30 days yet so i dont' know if they will take it off.
