gumshoe
I have a fingerhut card that is charged off and has a balance of $678. I sent Fingerhut a settlement offer on July 28 2003 to settle this debt in the amount of 350 and to have it removed from all three bureaus. As of today I haven't heard anything from them. I couldn't afford to pay it all at once so i stated i would make payments at the 1st of each month until it is paid off. If they do not accept what should I do. It is a relative small amount that I desperately would like to have removed. I have disputed it several times but, each time it comes back verified? Any advice

kb9tbq
This is not my strongest area of advice, I would think to resend your settlement offer, July 28th is not all that long. Usually give them 30 days - but it may also mean that the offer was not acceptable - so they where just rude enough not to send a response.Bump - means that Michigangirl was nice enough to bump your post back to the top, so that we would not over look your question for you. When every we miss a question, you can bump back up to the top. Sometimes with the amount of posting - it is easy to lose a post before the right person with your answer comes along to find it & help.

sisflomi
Is this account with the current fingerhut or is it with compucredit? You might need to find this out and resend to the correct place. Did you dispute this as not mine yet?
gumshoe
I have disputed this as not mine before but it keeps coming back verified on all three reports. If you have any suggestions pls. let me know asap. I plan to send the same letter again. Just a few quick facts: it has been charged off on all three reports. the sol has expired also. the account was with compucredit but it no longer is. sisflomi
If it was with compucredit, then fingerhut sold it to them. Compucredit might have sold it to someone new now. Is fingerhut the only one showing up on your reports? What state are you?
gumshoe
I am in North Carolina. Fingerhut is the only one showing on my credit report. I have challenged before but all agencies keep verifying. The balance is 678. Just trying to get rid of it one way or another. Should I try to dispute again or re-send settlement letter. The account has been charged of and i sent the letter to settle in the amount of 350. To be paid in monthly installments.
sisflomi
You need to find out who actually has the account. Call fingerhut and see what they tell you. Most times they will refer you to the correct ca that holds the account. You can also try and resend the settlement letter. If they ever tried to take you to court, it is a good thing to show the judge you tried to do something to work with them.

If it is beyond the SOL then you have no legal obligation to pay not to mention they might not have proof you owe this debt....of course now they do becuase you sent a settelement letter. gumshoe
I just spoke with fingerhut and they said they sold the account to compucredit and they referred me to them. they no longer use AXSYS Bank or whatever. How can I get this negative TL removed from all three bureaus. Compucredit hasn't place this on my report..yet. So I guess this is a small victory. EX is a PITA by the way. sisflomi
compucredit and fingerhut names keep changing back and fourth for me. I paid it off in full about 2000, so its not a bad account. It was originally opened with axis bank, and it was sold to compucredit at some point after it was paid off. Every few months they switch the name to compucredit and then it will switch back to fingerhut.
sh4461
I recently got fingerhut removed, after several attempts to dispute I finally tried debt validation. It worked like a charm.
vonniegirl
I recently got fingerhut removed, after several attempts to dispute I finally tried debt validation. It worked like a charm.I had a dormant account with Axxys aka fingerhut and was burdened with a few late pays because of the switch from fingerhut to Axxys.Surfice it to say that I have been unsuccessful in having the lates removed because of the outgoing message stating all inquiries on former Axxsyx accts are to be handled through writing. I believe my mistake was in re-opening this account on-line(sent invitation, did not resist).Do you have the address where you sent your DV? Thanks
