dgold21
How long would one or two 30-day lates usually have a significant impact on my scores? I've heard that once they get past 18 months, the impact reduces substantially...anyone have any insight here? I'm trying to decide whether to dispute...they are coming up on 18 months. C Whitney
If the accounts are still open I would try a goodwill letter rather than a dispute. Especially if the lates are accurate. The creditor may be very willing to forgive them if you have been on time with payments since and give a good reason for the late payments. Good Luck... dgold21
Tried the goodwill letters, to no avail. Can I look for the impact on the scores to fade a little after 18 months, or two years?
sisflomi
Two years is when it should stop hurting the fico scores. Did you call this creditor directly and ask them to delete the lates? Did you send more than one goodwill letter? Sometimes it takes more than once to get it to work for you.
dgold21
Sent letters just once...called one directly, and they "investigated" my story and decided they had reported it correctly and couldn't change it. I just gotta keep at it, huh?
