tarheel99
This past May I started paying attention to my CRs and signed up for PG. I had one TL from an OC on EQ that showed as still "open" with a balance even though the Remarks section read, "CHARGED OFF ACCOUNT - CREDIT CARD" and the Payment Status section read, "Bad debt & placed for collection & skip." There was also a CA listed for the account farther down the CR.I disputed both the OC and CA entries as not mine and was able to get the CA removed but the OC was verified. I then wrote to the OC and got back a letter saying they couldn't find an account for me. I sent this to the EQ asking how they could verify.I checked PG today and the dispute has been closed with the account now showing "Closed" with a $0 balance and the Remarks section reading "ACCOUNT TRANSFERRED OR SOLD - CREDIT CARD," and the Payment Status section reading "At least 120 days or more than four payments past due." I also noticed that my PG-FAKO score rose 14 points on the change. With that long lead-in, my question is: Is this still considered a negative account that I should be trying to remove or can I put this one in the positive column (minus the late pay notation) and try using a GW letter on the late payment? Cascadesss
You bet it's a negitive with a 120-day late!!!I would write a very strong letter to the CRA, and again show them the letter from the OC which states they can not find any record of the account.Keep banging on them until they completely remove it. If they still continue to report it, I would send them an ITS letter. They must be able to verify.Cas
curlytop
Cas is right it is a negative for sure, BUT...Since it is no longer listed as a charge-off, it would be nice if you could salvage it as a positive TL. I wonder if anyone here has been able to pull that off...? Is it an old account? It might be worth the history points to try and keep it.If I were you and I had the time, I would just try a GW to remove the lates. You never know, you could get lucky! If not, you can always try to get it totally deleted later, right?I'm still pretty new here, but it just seems like it would be worth a try. Keep us updated on what you decide and the progress. I would be interested to hear!
tarheel99
This is a pretty old account - about six years since DOLA with the account opened in 1994.I'd love to salvage this if possible. I think I will try a GW letter through PFB asking for the late payment notation to be removed.Worst case, I can always dispute it again later with the CRAs. tarheel99
I just pulled my PG report and this TL is now GONE!I'm glad I haven't gotten around to writing to them.Funny thing is that my PG FAKO score didn't change at all. I guess, using the PG scoring method, the benefit from an old TL was perfectly outweighed by the record of it as 120 days late. It was a push.I will just chalk that up as victory in having a negative TL deleted.

tarheel99
Thanks!I am going to get past thinking about this as a lost chance to rehab a bad account and consider it a victory in getting it completely removed. Now if I can only get the others removed too, I'll be in great shape.
