servantswife
I am nearly maxed out on the 2 (MBNA) cards I have. I figure that can't look good, having a balance almost as much as your limit. Would it help or hurt my score to get some dept store or gas co. cards (and not use them)? I'm sure I could get 'em. michigangirl530
i would first try to pay accounts down 30% of utilization and getting more cards will cause inquiries and ur score will drop.
kb9tbq
michigangirl530 is right - also for another reason, you might be hitting a brick wall, when you are maxed on your credit - this is considered to be the worst time to request limit increases and to apply for new credit. Other creditors and your current one will automatically turn you down.If you can get at least below 40%, better at 30% then that is the prime time for credit limit increases and aquiring new credit.
