counselor4kids
When someone is added as an authorized user, do they run credit or do they just add the person's name to the account?
kb9tbq
Usually the person who owns the account, just asks for additional authroized user account to be set up. They give them the persons name & address - nothing further. The creditor should not even pull a credit report since the person is only authorized to use, but not responsible to pay the debt. So their credit should have no bearing on this part what so ever.Don't even have to provide the social security number, but be sure that this is a creditor that has the policy of reporting authorized user accounts. And also for best results, see if they report to all three credit reporting agencies. Pick accounts which are high credit limit verses low balances and has been established for a considerable period of time and no derogitory information on these accounts. It will affect your scores just as it would the owner.
curlytop
My mother asked if B of A if they would report it to my CRs if they added me as an AU. They said they would only if we provided my SS#. So, if you want it reported, be sure to ask if they need it. I gladly offered it, since I wanted it on my credit.
