Desperate

Okay, this is what I have done. Sent letter to CA to validate, I know the debt is mine, but they do not know that. I think it will be really hard to get Sears(OC) removed even if the CA is removed. I am thinking, just thinking if I call and make a deal with the devil and tell them I will only agree to pay them if they send me something in writing that they agree to remove their listing and will not send the remaining amount to another agency etc(I ain`t about to pay the full bal) and they agree. I could try and write a good will letter a hundred times to Sears to change my account to good standing.

Am I crazy? Desperate? These are the only negative accounts left. Good will letters worked w/ the rest, still waiting for those idiots to update my report.

I am such a pain! What do you all think?

This reply is not specifically aimed at L, but a rhetorical question.

I dont understand why, after having so much stress and aggravation around unsecured debt that cannot be paid, would one be concerned with ones credit rating unless they plan to take on more unsecurred debt that one cant pay and go through the whole nightmare all over again?

Well Elvis, I can't speak for everyone, but I can tell you why I am trying to clean up credit. My husband had a great deal of unsecured debt when we got married. He took on the responsibility of my 2 children and we couldn't afford the bills. We settled some and disputed others. One old charge off remains.

We now have 3 unsecured credit cards. We pay one off each month. We use it for a gas card. The other 2 have reasonable balances that we can handle. We ran up a modest balance and are paying it off to rebuild our bad credit rating.

The reason we want to rebuild is to refinance our home. Because of our bad credit, we took out a subprime loan. We also want to purchase a new car this year. We have no intention of ever having store cards again. We have learned to pay cash for whatever we want or need. I don't ever foresee us being in a position of high debt again. We've learned our lesson, and now want a second chance.

Not all people here are wanting unsecured credit cards again. Some of us just want the basics....houses and cars at a good interest rate.

Yes,

I can deffinately understand wanting to clear the credit report for a home or car loan.

I wont be in a possition to buy a home in the forseeable future so I always laugh at collectors when they threaten a bad mark on my credit.

I always say, "my credit rating really couldnt get much worse and you must be mad if you think Ill ever take on credit card debt again, knowing what I know now."

Although its ultimatley my own responsability, I do harbor a resentment that I was extended a credit limit that exceeded my annual income.

Sorry to muck up your thread L, carry on and best of luck.

Tell me about it. My credit limit was 4 times my annual income at one point. Especially when they knew I was just starting out with credit and I didn't know the difference between "need" and "want."

This debt with Sears happend when I was a teenager, now that I know how important credit is, I am trying to fix it. If anyone can assist me w/ the questions I have up above I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks again!

Hi Lady,

I think I was 18 and what a idiot I was. Thank goodness that is the only thing really negative on the credit report. The only other item is freakin` Filenes a bunch of lates...Tried the goodwill w/ them and did not work. Should I go ahead and make a deal w/ the CA for Sears, really in a rush...Pay them and in return remove their listing and will not forward the remaining amount? Any ideas for Filenes, I was thinking of disputing I was ever late...
