maurissastar
We are following the debt validation process, and have halted all collection activity on 4 of 5 accounts to whom we have sent the letter. One lawyer, however, has not picked up the certified letter. Since the clock starts ticking only after he signs for it, what should we do? BTW, we have also faxed the letter to his office. Thanks,Maurissa
Swede
Try FEDEX, most people sign for that.

emma7
I was told by an attorney once that refusal to pick up a certified letter has the same legal effect as signing and accepting it.Save the returned letter (UNOPENED). It is evidence if you end up in court.Best of Luckemma
nativechild48
Safeguard that CMRR receipt that you got when you paid for it. Swede is right send another one Fedex, it looks most effective when it shows that you desparately tried to contact them and they are trying to avoid anything but your money
momof5
Hey, I have an idea! Since the jerks who collect debts like to send stuff that looks like checks, put on the CRRR "cheque enclosed" and then have a bogus check to yourself for the $1000 violation fine! LOL At least he would have picked it up!
nativechild48
Good idea yeah get one of those see through envelopes that creditors send with your statement and have a letter made up on your computer to fit; my word proccessor has watermarking abilities; and make the CA address to show through the window with the watermark maybe he will pick it up then. Do you have the regular address of the CA
