creditmess
So I got a phone call today from some Collection Agency saying that I owe some 600 bucks on Bally's Visa Card! WTF? I did have Bally's membership very long time ago which I paid off hell.....like 7 years ago! Now, the lady told me that Household bought out Bally's and I have outstanding blanace of over 600 bucks ! WTF?? I never had any Bally's Visa Card....I am fuming!!! I tried to call Bally's and raise hell about this and their offices are closed today From what the lady told me, what happened was.. now listen to this... it's funnyWhen I signed up for Bally's Fittness.. they would take like 30 bucks a month for like 2-3 years out of my checking account. It was like a loan which even reports on my credit report as PAID IN FULL in 1996!!! hahaha so after that 2-3 years passed, I had my lifetime membership all paid off. Now, I never went back to Bally's. So what the lady told me was that without my KNOWLEDGE Bally's would put some amount on some VISA card and supposely now I owe them money.... To that I say F***K THAT! I am sorry but I am so pissed right now.I told the lady that they are crazy and this is not mine debt and I never had any Visa from Bally's.. then she says if I would take a settlement. I told her :" HELL NO I AM NOT TAKING NO SETTLEMENT... FIX YOUR DAMN PAPERS BECAUSE THIS IS NOT MINE AND I NEVER HAD ANY VISA FROM BALLY's" Then she tells me that if I dont' pay it, they will post it on my credit report!!!Those people are on crack. I am contacting attorney on Monday. THis is too much...

Watsonsbag
When is someone going to seriously do something about this company? The States are still beating their chests over the "wonderful" settlement they got for we victims of this company--what a joke. By allowing them to continue to operate these sorts of problems will just continue to be generated by them.Thrilled to hear you are going to pursue this with the help of an attorney! And don't be intimidated by any of their letters. I can't understand why companies use them for their financing etc. My guess is they were THE big factor in why Home Depot was switched over to Citibank. Somewhere there is a list of companies that use (or used) Household to do their financing--a number of which went toes up. Coincidence? I don't think so....I don't know how anyone who works for them can sleep at night.
creditmess
The funny thing is that I asked them for the phone numbers of their client and they said they didn't have it LOL...Even if the debt was mine , which is not, it is waaaaaayyy past SOL in my state. They are crazy for even trying to collect this.OH man, if they put this stuff on my credit report, I will raise hell
Watsonsbag
Creditmess, I like your attitude! No more letting anybody get away with stunts like this. If there is one good that came out of our BK, it is the priceless lessons I've been learning, not only through web research but great boards like this one. The bulk of ordinary consumers have no idea how they are being screwed (pardon my language), how the credit reporting system works and how devious lenders take full advantage. I have learned so much, and am only at the beginning of gaining the knowledge to take full control and not allowing myself to be a victim anymore.Do you realize there are probably a lot of people who would fall for that owing Bally's VISA crap and go along with the settlement or whatever. People have become so conditioned to being victims and to believing whatever a lender/collector tells them. Especially and unfortunately, many elderly are prone to do this. Many older widows (my mother is an example) who lost their husbands never handled finances before and are easy prey. My brother has had to take control of her financial affairs as she knows absolutely nothing about credit. Wow, didn't mean to get on my soapbox. With the SOL past on your case, they don't have a prayer. And if they try--GO GET 'EM! Good Luck!
