plezadvise
I just have a quick question, can a CA freeze your checking and savings accounts before you go to court and a judge issues a judgement against you? Sorry if this topic has already been discussed.
Da_Bill_Collector
I don't think they can until they win judgement. If it was a checking account that went default, banks can take money from your other accounts with the same bank though. Eg. if you miss car payment from ABC bank, and if you have a savings account with it as well, they will take the money for your car payment. plezadvise
I'm actually awaiting to see if the CA will take me to court or settle with me on a credit card account. I just answered my sumons last week. I've just been told by other people that they can freeze my bank accounts before I go to court. I didn't think they could but I though I would aks the experts. nativechild48
Depending on which state you live and amount of liability id it was found during discovery, sometimes. But in most cases they won't even garnishee wages without giving a chance to pay. Make sure you attend. GOOD LUCK OH AND SEE CAN YOU WORK OUT A PAYMENT PLAN WITHIN REASON, AND TRY TO STICK TO IT
planner2
It all depends on your state. Some states allow prejudgement liens on bank accounts (TX).
