My husband and I have a fico score of 600, no charge off’s, current across the board for 11 months now. We have a mortgage, 4 CC, a Sears store charge, great loan to debt ratio, solid employment (for my husband, I wasn’t able to work f/t but occasionally p/t) and above all we are good, decent, honest people. (The reason for the low score is I was in for a “simple day stay procedure” that left me physically changed for life. It is a wonder we didn’t loose our home during the 8 years of reconstructive surgery that was required to “put me back together.”) We have been humiliated each and every time we walked into a bank for a refinance. (We also have no credit inquires with the exception of banks that we have asked mortgages and or equity refinances.) Now that I am back on solid footing, we want to put an addition on our home. Again, our

”history” will reduce us to red ants. I want so much to someday walk into a bank and want them to need us, not the other way around. My question is, is there anything you can suggest to help us increase of score? We have a couple closed accounts that I think have the limits included in our “available” figure. I know I have spoken in bits and pieces, I’m sorry, but can anybody out there lend me advice? No pun intended…

Can you tell us what your report says are the reasons for your low scores? It usually will point you in the right direction.

You can one make sure all your credit card balances are below 25% of the credit limits. You can also ask your current cc's if they will increase the limits. Having one or two higher limit cards usually can help the score.

You can try to do secured loans from banks or credit unions that report to all three cras. You secure the loan with your own money.

If you go here you can read how I was able to get my bf's score up quick for our mortgage. http://debt-consolidation-credit-repair-service.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=9329&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

My husband has 3 deliquent accounts showing: all closed- all wrong- all old. Should I have these removed? I know that seems like a stupid question but I am confused on when to remove a report and when not to. It seems to help at time but hurt others. Holy sh*t  Another question.Should I get old mortgages off, 1998 and 2001? Old installment loans?Revolving Accts? These are all old and closed. We are going to apply for an equity line or refi and want our report to be in it's best condition. Thank you so much for input. I have read some pretty amazing stories on this board, God love all the help-it is so confusing but sooo important. :?

No you prob don't want to lose the mortgage accounts or the installments. Esp if they are reported as good and neg history attached to them. If they are good old paid acccounts, they can only help your scores.

As for the deliquent accounts, what type of accounts are they, how are they reported, who are they reported by? What is the neg info associated with them?

Where your confused is this, just because something has a late pay say from 5 years ago, it shows as a neg account. But it adds history to the credit report, this helps the fico score. You have to decide if the accounts are more damaging or more helpful to you.

Tell me a bit more about the del accounts and I will try to guide you on if you want to send goodwill letters to the creditors or dispute as not mine with cras.

:!: And most of all, Mrsp, do not feel bad for asking questions! None of them are stupid, I promise. I have learned tons and tons of stuff by reading the answers to other people's questions. Learn what you can by immersing yourself in the posts on this board, the credit info center, Sis's website, there are others-I also like the fair credit movement. But don't be afraid t ask questions because by doing so, you will be helping someone else at a later time who is in a similar situation. To be the most help to you, though, you will have to be more specific sometimes. Just make sure that you don't post personal info--like your address, ssn, account numbers. good luck!

Re-aging is a one time request of the creditor to wipe the negative reporting clean and do over fresh. Worth a try, but it is just a one time request in like 3 to 5 years that you can do this.. Also not all creditors will offer this up. Be sure you are on solid ground before requesting this, meaning that you know for sure you won't fall behind again on this account. Otherwise re-aging can work against you, on the SOL if you do fall behind.

Hi kbtbq,

First of all-THANK YOU! I know this is alot of info to understand (but you did it????God you are good.Thank You again.)

Good will letter. What does that mean? We will not fall behind again, we sold our home with the large mortgage and now have an extra 1500.00 a month going into savings. I feel very confident we won't fall behind again. What is re-aging? Thank you for responding. I am going to the bank for an equity or refi in the next few weeks and want to have this in my control, in other words, the best it can be. Thanxs!

Ok-More questions,

Should I pull our reports from all 3 CB? The one you just viewed was fro EX. Can I cal CB in behalf of my husband? (He is a wonderful man that isn't aggresive. I will get an answer and keep going until I get what I need. He will back off.)

I had a few more questions that I can't remember. I will email when I remember. Sorry....but thank you.

ok again. More questions but this time I wrote them down so I have a more organized process.

F,G and H are all current and have been so for 6 months. Can I ask for a reaging now?

L is closed and has been for at least 6 years.

Does a Goodwill letter go to the CBA or the Creditor? I know- a stupid question.

Is there a Goodwill letter format? I have seen the link to format letters. Also I found an achive post that had email addresses of CS reps from the 3 big reporting agencies. Should I send a letter with stamp or email? Please don't forget I need the fastest way possible. How do I get all this changed info (hopefully changed, hopefully I get people who understand)to up date asap?

More to come....that's for sure.

Again, THANK YOU.

Re-aging... is when you call the creditor's customer service and ask if they will re-age the account and remove lates. Usually they will set their terms and once completed will wipe the late history off of the credit report. This is usually a one time request within 5 or so years. And not all creditors offer this, but worth a try 1st.

Good will letter is a way of asking creditor for consideration that they will willingly themselves remove the derogitory informaiton from your credit report. Use this second if you can't get results with the 1st method. And you want to try at least 3 times at the good will letters - multiple directions: One time may be through PFB www.planetfeedback.com this site is a good one, for address & key contact look up. Also can try dispute address on your billing statement, or look online at the creditors site for other possible addresses. So if you send out multiple ways - you increase your odds of hitting the right person - who will make a difference for you.

A good will letter will consist of:

Letting them know you are sorry for the late, and that at such and such time due to loss of work, illness, family crisis you unfortunately became late. But that is not going to happen again for such and such reason you have since fixed the problem. If they would be so kind as to assist you in this matter and remove the lates from your credit report - due to you going to be applying for a mortgage loan and that this is hurting your chances at getting the best possible interest rates. Also like to add how much you like doing business with their company and look forward to future services with them.

Something to that affect to get their attention to help you in the matter. It does not matter when or how long since the delinquency... as long as you have since been at least 6 months current.. or finally paid the account in full. Good will is for both open & closed accounts. Re-aging is for currently open accounts, late or past lates.

Think PFB has option for e-mailing, but when possible suggest sending by mail and keep copies of all of your letters, don't add certified return reciept to these.. you are looking for their good graces, don't need to be business like on this matter.

When disputing with the CRA (credit reporting agencies) be sure to always send letter, certified return reciept (important that you get that green card back - indicating when the investigation starts). You can also fax to them to rush (recommend going somewhere to fax where you can receive confirmation that the fax was received on their end).

I am not sure what area you are in as far as if you are dealing with the CRAs directly or if you are in an affiliate area - meaning secondary company that handles all consumer disputes on behalf of the CRAs.

Here is what I have:

Experian

PO Box 2002

Allen, TX 75013

888-397-3742

972-390-3809 Fax

www.experian.com

TransUnion

PO Box 1000

Chester, PA 19022

www.transunion.com

CSC Credit Services (Equifax Affiliate)

PO Box 981223

https://www.csccredit.com/www/csccs.nsf

If these don't match up right for you - then look in the Credit Bureau forum & there is a sticky note by Sisflomi with all CRAs contact info on numbers & faxes.

Good idea when ever writing to the CRAs to always include copy of Drivers License (with DL # marked out) so that there is not delays with them saying they need more information.

This one still needs some review - but I am at work right now - to go into any real full detail here... maybe one of the other members might step in and help get you started on this one with your options before I get back in this evening.

Yes do be sure to order all credit reports on both you and your husband - recommend that you get them direct from the CRAs... if you are worried about cost of the reports... then call the phone numbers provided and go the option of having been declined credit and follow the instructions (sometimes you can dupe the system to send you a free credit report). But it will take about a week to get these reports by mail. Fastest delivery is going to be internet. TransUnion has an option for having been declined credit, but you will be made to provide a name & date of a creditor that you know recently accessed your file in the last 60 days (I have done this just using a current creditors name that I already have an account with / especially a credit card company since they do account reviews on a regular basis).

Also don't fall for the 3 in 1 reports - not good... just get each individual report form each site. And on TransUnion site... don't grab TrueCredit you only want TransUnion's Credit Report.

Cost should be $9, unless you want credit scoring... then it ranges from $12.95 (with EQ & TU) to $14.95 with EX.

Ok, with this one you will want to dispute with the CRA first time around as not mine see if you can't get it bumped off.

Need to know what state you are from & if this account is still in the statute of limitations.

You have a few options here:

1. Leave it alone until you know it is out of SOL; then dispute for deletion (saying not mine).

2. Dispute & if the CA bothers you - then follow up with DV letter (debt validation) see if they can prove the debt is yours.

3. If they can prove ownership of the debt, see about settling for deletion from the credit report.

It breaks down further then this, but lately my time has been limited & just wanted to let you know I did not forget. Please ask questions - If you would like further break down of this part. You can e-mail me direct also if you like or pm me.

Have a great weekend! :-)
