azoomzip
my wife got me a car while i was going through bk. is there anyway that i can have her add my name to an auto loan like an authorized user? how about her mortgage? would any of this require refinancing?history:we kept everything seperate when we got married because my debt was not her responsibility. 1 year later i had to file for bk while she maintained great credit. anything else i can do to leverage her credit to help rebuild mine?thanks again
kb9tbq
Any installment / auto loan would require re-financing - and that would not be recommended right now. Because you would most likely get a higher interest rate due to your scores.Must be credit card account on these things... then once your scores go up you could try the above mentioned. retmar
Yes, it would require refinancing. What I was told by a friend in the auto business, some institutions will rewrite to include a mate, but, the existing contract must be current, and have been maintained at least 1 yr. To me, the best thing to do is contact the institution and pose the question to them to see where they stand on the issue. Another option is to trade the present car in for a new one and purchase under both names. What you would do is watch your ads in the paper and TV to see which dealers offer to sell to those with negative items on their CR's. True, you may get a higher interest rate or you may not as it will depend on the scores and explanations you give. If you did get a higher rate, just include at least $25.00 a month, to begin with, extra for principal only and this will help offset the higher rate at the end of the contract.
