Auntnana
While doing my CHOD I noticed that I had an inquiry that shouldn't be there. A month ago I rented a ditch witch, paid cash, no problems. Did have to give them a copy of my drivers license which made sense. But why on earth would they have a right to pull my credit report? I certainly did not give them permission and the only way they could have gotten my ss# was from my drivers license. Is this legal and if not, what do I do? knewkid
When you rent something you have to sign a contract...check the fine print on that document and see if by signing it you gave the permission. If so, you might get them to have it removed from your report by asking them politely and pointing out that you paid cash.....KK
Auntnana
I went over the contract with a magnifyng glass and couldn't find anything even closely related to giving permission to pull/view my report. I called them when I first spotted the inquiry and asked them why, they just said it was policy. When I told them I didn't give them permission, they said it was "understood" that when you rent anything from anyone you will have a credit inquiry and it's not something they can have deleted. Huh?
