There not required here in Mississippi, either. It REALLY sucks. Although I did have some success writing a complaint to the CA's state licensing authority and the AG's office. What I did was send all my complaints(FTC,BBB,Licensing Bureau, AG) all in one day. The next week it was off my report.

if you really want some good information on the law in california - a consumer protection law firm in San Diego - West Coast Litigation - charges you nothing - they only take your case if they can win and they have sued tons of agencies. They know the law inside and out -

btw I DO NOT WORK FOR THEM :) but I have talked with them on the phone and they rock. They were going to help me with American Agencies and Cavalry if they didnt bend over when i sent them nasty grams.

American Agencies and Cavalry bent. So no need to pursue further....but if NCO doesnt bend I will get their help....from what I understand NCO doesnt like DV letters, in fact they had an old AT&T account, I sent a DV and put tons of little extras in it they sent me a letter saying they are deleting my tradelines.

They may be ravenous...but one DV and they have to validate, not a goood thing for a bottom dweller, they like stupid people they can collect from. Try a DV and ask for original contract, insurance claims made, etc....they wont respond and prob will delete your account after sending you a letter back saying they are waiting on more information from the creditor which of course you know is BS
