sjhnjah
I disputed several items with Equifax and have had two items status go from N/A to Charge Off account and one went from N/A to "Cusotmer Disputes this Account" I feel I'm going backwards. These are not good for credit score? Correct? They even changed my current address to a totally wrong version of an old address. What's going on? I'm just nervous and need some advice I'm not creating a larger problem for myself. Is this kind of thing normal? Thanks in advance!
sjhnjah
Sorry, that was not a Status notice, it was a change in the Comment field. That doesn't matter on score does it? Very new to this and have been following your threads for days trying to learn all I can. Thanks,
cabledude
I actually had the same thought on disputing a few accounts. I have a few TL's recording a couple of 30 day past dues and I know that there were really more. I'd like to get rid of all lates, but if I dispute they might just add more in. In this case I decided to leave these accounts as is in fear of what is exactly happened to you.
sjhnjah
Yes, It seems the more I dispute, the more new CA letters I've been receiving after years of silence! I'm not sure if this is a normal part of the process as I'm in the first phase of disputes right now. Can any of you experts out there reassure us newbies? Thanks! I have like 6 or 7 accounts that I 'disappeared' on back in the late 80s. I've settled one (Amex-they dont go away) and now 2 others have magically taken on a new life. The point here is DONT GIVE UP.... let them come. They cannot hurt you! I dont know your whole story but if you have the LAW on your side (and even if you dont)-They cannot hurt you. And DONT PAY THEM. You are saving those CA letters right? Even the envelopes right?Follow the path.. DV, accumulate violations, use those violations and the law to set you free. And there is just about always someone around here to help!
sjhnjah
Thank you for the encouragement! Yes, I have kept every single piece of paper, including envelopes trying to build a good paper trail. I will just keep chipping away at these. Thanks again! I feel better now. If you want to get the address info corrected, send them a current copy of a utility bill and a letter that includes your name and SSN.Dispute the accounts with the CAs. THEN dispute with the CRAs... there is a method to this...and no.. so far, from what you have posted, you have not created a bigger mess.. just more confusion for you which is what the CAs want. Understand though that there are things you can do that MIGHT cause you problems so understand the SOL in your state and just keep reading. When I found this site I spent 3 days-reading- then I got active and started asking questions... Now I'm quite learned! LOL but I dont know enough and neither do you so.. keep on learning!j
