bosox2004
Hi all,I've been working on my credit scores and rasing them from the abyss from some time. Here's my recent dilema.I moved from my old apartment about a year ago. At the time I remember my landlord telling me it looked as if I owed a missed months rent. I was about to go overseas for a month so I told him I would look into it when I got back. Unfortunately this totally got forgotten and I did not even address the issue. Here I am nearly a year later; and I check a PO box I have and find a letter sent in March which said I had untill the end of the month to pay my old balance at this realtor ( $650 ) or it would goto court.I only check the box sparingly and just now got the letter after the deadline had passed. I got nervous and joined privacy guard and low and behold - they have me down on Experian as a Charged Off account. No dollar amount is listed; however it says it is in the hands of lawyers etc. This was just entered at the end of March. My question now is; I can pay the balance in it's entirety and would like to do so. However, I want to ensure this mark is removed from my credit report. How do I go about aranging this and making sure it gets removed in exchange for my payment? I think I can still deal with the landlord directly but I just need to know how. Thanks for the insight everyone!
meebones
did you miss a month's worth of rent? Maybe before you pay anything you should check this out - then if they are right about the missed payment agree to pay it in return for this being removed from all credit reports. If the TL is from a collection agency, DV them. If it is fromt he realtor, DV the realtor anyways...they probably don't know that the FDCPA would not apply to them and you'll be forcing him to open up his books to you for review.
