Bier4Dew
Hi Everyone-I am new to the board, but I need some help! I have a CA called CAMCO calling me about a 13yr old, delinquent Citibank account from my college days. What should I do about this? I am not disputing the account, but hasnt the SOL come and gone for collection? I have pulled a 3in1 credit report, this account in not listed, and my credit score is 752. Should I worry about this showing up in the future, i.e.- if I apply for a mortgage? Can they report this on my credit report, can it be sold to another CA? I really cant settle the account with them, but even if I do what will it accomplish? Any help is most welcome-Thanks very much!
E Montgomery
Don't pay. Don't make a promise to pay. Dispute it.
DocPC
I'll just bet the SOL is up on that one.
Methuss
Unless you live in Kentucky or Ohio and this is a written contract, the SoL is up and you can tell them to go swim in a pirahna pool.Send a cease and desist notice telling them the debt is time-barred (unless both conditions above apply to you) and that any continued action is illegal. If you live in Wisconsin, they are not even allowed to contact you about a time-barred debt...not even once. And, no they can't sell it to another CA unless they inform the buyer that it is time-barred debt. Doing so violates the FDCPA for misrepresenting the status of the debt.
iamresilient
Actually, I think I just made a big mistake! Camco called to make payment arrangement on a 12 year old debt. I made the payment arrangement for monthly payments for the next 3 months. To make matters worse I used my checking account information to make the arrangement. Needless to say--I did this before I ran into this credit forum!Do you think that I can send the c&d letter? Should I place stop payments on those checks? 1st check not scheduled until 6-1904Or am I just too late?PLEASE!!!! advise. Thanks
