Bush signs Identity Theft legislation

Read the part that says: "For purposes of this section, the term `felony violation enumerated in subsection ©' means any offense that is a felony violation of--

The phrase "that is a felony violation of--" seems to imply that in order for this law to be effective, the illegal acts must already be listed as a felony. It doesn't say it "becomes a felony".

So, going back to my other comment on how police agencies look at the "simple ID theft" as a victimless crime, it doesn't look like there's any enforcement behind this legislation at all.

Anyone?
