RJM had sent my DW a collection letter over a year ago for an alleged Fingerhut account. I immediately sent them a letter that my DW had never had a Fingerhut account and they responded within 2 weeks that they had closed and gone away. There was no argument or anything, they just went away. They are Debt Buyers.

It makes no difference that they bought the debt. They are a Debt Collector by Law and must comply with the FDCPA. I would let the violations add up for maybe another week, then nail them with an ITS for an amount equal to theirs. At the same time, file a complaint with the State AG. You can do that now as you are entitled to amend your complaint as you will assuredly include the statement in all further communications to anyone.

In short, have fun and Get It Done!
