Patelco...the monster thread!!!!

Recommended Posts

So my advice, if you have a collection, don't apply. Of if you do have one that is small, and you get declined... call them up and ask for reconsideration. They are really "people friendly" and if you explain the situation, they will listen. I like that. I like that they are not looking strictly at the score but at the person as well.

Pretty much true of ANY credit union as a general rule, especially an unpaid collection.

Congrats on the approval, though. Patelco probably will probably be one of my next two cards (I've been eligible for about six weeks, actually, just want tradelines to age and all that).

Well that is interesting. Patelco approved me about 2 months ago for a small loan, ($650), and I have two open, (but old), collections on my account. I was going to pay off this loan with my tax return and then try to get a good credit card with them. I had this all planned out and now I am getting a little bummed. My loan is a "payday" loan, but does not work like a payday loan, so I really do not know why they call it that. The rate is not too bad and my payments are low monthly. Hmmm.... I think I will still try to work out my masterplan of obtaining a Patelco card with a good limit and then going for Juniper!

**creditmess, was your collection medical or for something else? My two were medical and totaled over 3k. Interesting.

Morrow..you still happy with them?

Lyle...did you ever apply?

TeenaMeana:lol: did you get an account with them?

I am waiting a few weeks for DH to apply since they want paystubs.

He makes salary plus commissions and most (75%) of his money is made spring/summer so I want to wait until he has a big check in June...

also i went through the app. to check it out and put our city/state in for referral and DH company and they didn't "match". Any ideas??

When i got the 1% rebate platinum card, I had to send a paystub. They never even asked about what criteria I should be part of to join- I don't match any on the list and the nearest Patelco CU is close to 3000 miles from my house. They gave me $1000 limit. About 18 months later, I called and asked for a 10k limit- they said they can't give me that much since I have some school loans (all still in deferrment) but they issued me a $3500 limit.

It is still the only card I use on a regular basis since it has a reasonable limit and a 1% cashback feature. The only downside is the lack of online payment- but I am told it will be rolled out this fall.

I just applied, and they told me I should be receiving an e-mail form them shortly....

Is this good or bad? I requested 5 grand on Visa, FICOs around 600

EDIT: I got the email and they told me no. :(

About 6 months after my BK7, they gave me $1000 platinum rebate card. That was early in 2005. at the time my Experian score was roughly 660 but it had 5 derogatory accounts (all IIB and $0 balance) and a fresh BK7 public record. The Patelco CSR commented that she was shocked how many negatives were on my report with that FICO score but that they were going to approve because I have decent income and I was totally debt free. Recently, they upped my limit to $3500.

Based on my history with them, I have recommended them to many people who were almost all subsequently denied. I am going to stop recommending them. What good is a credit union if they have approval standards as high as prime card issuers?

I have a question and need ur all's opinion or suggestion on it. I wanna get a loan of atleast 25000 $ as I want my other credit card and other payments with just one single monthly payment. The most imp is that i want some 10000 cash for some personal reason. I came upto this thread and decided tht i would call Patelco CU on monday 26th to ask for Visa Gold card which has limit till 50k n the intrest is also low my EX score is 717. But before doing that I wanted to knw tht if there is some other option also from which i can get cash loan upto 50k or atleast 25k to i dnt have to worry paying different bills and i can use cash also where i need because cc might have different % rate for cash advance. So if anybody has some idea or suggestion pls let me knw. Thanks

I applied 3 days ago. Approved for 5k but are again calling my bluff and asking for full documentation, so I gotta let it go.

6 months ago I went for 20k, was approved but unable to meet the demand. They won't include student loans, of which I get 40k a year on top of my intern work.

I don't even think your pay has to be all that good... just don't .. let's say 'exaggerate'.

One guy over at CB says he got 5k with 18k/year income. I felt pretty dumb for my unnecessary inflation.

Doing it over again, I'd say if your existing limits are under 1k, go for $2500, if they're 1-2k, go for 5K and be in the ballpark for your income.

I don't know why they flagged me so quickly and often, they don't always verify, or even really a lot. I have substantial student loans not in repayment yet on my EQ, so that probably gave them a good guess I was still a student.

For scores they're pretty forgiving. I had about 3 significant C/O's last time I applied.

Ok I will give it a shot I think....If you look at my Sig. You will see my Co's I have on all 3 and fico scores

I have 13500 in SLs none are in repayment. Most of my Co's are from 06...I have cleaned a lot of Inq's off too. What do you think I should do? Go for it or wait a few months? Advice would be appreciated...TY...Tom:)

ok i'm going to take the plunge and apply tonight...

we will see status in a few days............ fingers crossed!

**EDIT**

Got an e-mail almost instantly denying me... called today and asked... they pulled the evil experian... the only cr with my collections still on it... curses... the rep was saying that they are looking for a 720 plus score... then she started to contradict saying that they were looking at your credit report and score wasn't that important, if you had a "decent" income. never could get clarity about what a "decent" income was... lol

evil ex got me again!
