saffodilly
What exactly does the DOLA mean in regards to activity on the account? Does it have anything to do with payments made on the account? Or is it something completely different. The reason I am asking is because the OC that charged off on my credit reports and now is under a CA, is listed 5 times on one credit report, each time listing a different account number, balance and has different DOLA. This OC has reported to one credit report 5 different times with different information each time. Is this legal? And the funny thing is that one of the reports is positive, showing I paid as agreed with a zero balance. I only had one credit account with them, so how can it show up as five different accounts? Anyways, sometimes the DOLA shows 6/2001 when I know for a fact I never did anything with that account after 1998. Anyways, I am confused again and wonder why the OC can report all these different accounts and DOLA. Also, when it is taken over by a CA, now the CA shows on the report with a different balance then the original charge off, I guess they are charging interest. Can they charge interest on an account that was originally charged off by the OC, then turned over to a CA?
op_crdt_repair
If you hadn't done anything with the account since 98 then it is well over SOL and you should get some letters out to All involved and then dispute with the CRA. The DOLA is the date you actually sent in the last payment and to change it is a violation.
saffodilly
Thanks for the information. Can anyone clarify how an OC can report an account in five different ways on a credit report? Each one shows a different balance, one charged off, one still owed, three paid as agreed. Makes no sense! I have disputed all five with the CRA, claiming no knowledge of these accounts because I did not have five accounts with the OC. Also, some OC's that I settled with in 1998 also have duplicate accounts on one CR. One will show charged off as bad debt, the second one paid as agreed less than full amount. Can they do that? Or is that inaccurate reporting and must come off the CR. Thanks for any help, very much appreciated.
peachjuteux
because they dont care what it does to our credit .... they think the majority of the consumers dont know theyre rights and wont fight. they are good at intimidation and bending the laws to get you to pay because they SAY you owe it.... i remember the day the sheriff served my mom court papers- she was a nervous wreck- we had no idea who was sueing her- they called and told her she would go to jail if she didnt pay the account- so she made payment arrangements over the phone- kept to them, but they still took her to court- the CA made a deal with her before court - she wound up agreeing to pay more to the CA than even due- plus court costs plus some extra fees..... the poor woman was told that she was going to jail if she didnt agree to payments, made pmts, still went to court and they got a garnishment, after the total amount was paid off- they still came after her for more money- she had no idea she had any rights because they told her it was crime not to pay the bill..they would have a warrent issued for her for stealing- yes.. they said it was considered stealing if you dont pay the credit card bill........ when i told her the other day what her rights were- she broke down in tears- and said "you mean they wouldnt really have arrested me if i didnt agree to payment arrangments that day? this was about 10 years ago- she wont even look at a credit card now!she immediately cuts up credit card offers! she is so mad at me for even applying for one- she just sais that will lead you to trouble.......i should have listened.... saffodilly
Yikes for your mom peach! And you are right, most people do not know their rights, I didn't until I started researching on the web. creditinfo.com has been a great source of information, along with this forum. Before I thought I would use a credit repair agency such as Lexington Law, but now I will attempt to correct my credit on my own and save alot of money. Hopefully I will succeed! saffodilly
No, it is an old credit debt sky-warner so thankfully the DOLA will stay the same. The frustration I have is that the DOLA is a different date on each CRA. I know I did not pay past 1998 maybe early 1999 on this debt, but on one CR the DOLA it is 2001. So they were trying to re-age it.
