anti-something
just had someone leave a message from a law firm, could not make out the name, they asked for first name correctly, but screwed up the last name?? also asked if this was not the correct number for 'correct incorrect' to call back 'so they could update their records' since i've been there, done that one before and ended up with some crazy collector calling me for months (it really was the wrong number, i really wasnt the person they were after.. i did call them back and tell them that, but still it took months to convince em i wasnt the person..) i dont wanna call back, but i wanna know who they are so if anyone wants to try and get me a name; heres the number..1-866-870-8565
breathing_easier
I called. A woman simply answered "Law firm." I asked the name of the law firm and she said "Purdue Brandon" (I think). I asked which state...she said Amarillo, Texas. I tried looking them up on Martindale-Hubbell (lawyer/law firm directory), but no listing. Also did a Google...no luck. I'm probably spelling the name incorrectly, but on Martindale I couldn't even find a firm name that was close. Some smaller firms don't list on Martindale, however. breathing_easier
You guys are just SO sneaky. I love it!Aren't we, though? Here's their website:http://www.pbfcm.com/Looks like they collect delinquent traffic tickets, too.Whenever I hear "Purdue" I think "Boilermakers," hence the misspelling! Comes with being a Big 10 grad, I guess! Double-checked and still don't find them on Martindale-Hubbell. Odd.

Good point I'd risk the federal offense just to find out if it involves ID theft....

breathing_easier
On the other hand opening mail without your name on it is a federal offense..... even if it has your address on it. I can't be the only one who rips all envelopes that come through my mail slot without looking at the address first?? After all, since I've lived in the same place for more than 10 years I feel comfortable in assuming that all mail delivered here is mine. There have been a few times, I must admit, where I've ripped open someone else's utility bill because it was wrongly delivered to me. Hey, they all look the same! I simply put tape on it, scribbled "Sorry...delivered to wrong address..." on it and slipped it in the proper mailbox in the dark of night.
