jerseygirl
Responded to a telephone solicitation from MCI to switch to some new program they were offering. Agreed to sign up. GUESS WHAT? The Sons of Witches pulled a hard credit inquiry. They did not notify that they were going to do this, or I would have declined their offer.I'm firing off a letter to the idiots today! I'm so mad I could spit!
DocDon
Ooooh. Non-PP?I wouldn't send a letter just to MCI. I'd let the 'authorities' know too.

DocDon
At the very least the FTC, FCC and AG.Why not mention the civil penalty in your letter and see what they say?
chincheck
For next time: If anyone asks for a SSN and/or DL, ask if this is to pull credit. LD companies can grant you service without this information. An electronics store in my area offered me a "free membership card," and they asked for SSN, DL, previous address. I didn't realize it was for a credit card until the guy pulls out a form for me to sign with the APR disclosure at the top of the document! jerseygirl
I really don't recall them asking for my SS#, as that would have set the bells to ringing in my head. I do remember them asking for my birth date, which I assumed was for future account verification, or for ensuring that I was of legal age to enter into the agreement for service. The idiots pulled an equifax inquiry. Fortunately, Equifax is my lowest score and won't impact my middle score which is needed for refinancing my home.
