How long before you saw a rise in your score...

Recommended Posts

Anyone know the length of time it takes for scores to go up after negatives come off?

Finally got my 3 old charge-offs to fall off TU. So now I only have 1 medical collection that just popped up a mth ago (DV'd). 1 false Charge-off. 2 active and current TLs (car Loans), 2 closed TLs (car loans).

9 Inquiries, 4 of them this yr; 2 in April and 2 last month. Everything else good and bad TLs are over 7 years and therefore no longer on my CR.

Pulled PG after I got the letter and noticed my score has not moved, not even by one point?! It's been a week. xheadscratchx

So how long did it take for anyone to notice a rise in their score? :)

it could be that whatever was deleted did not have a significant impact on your report to begin with. I would think that if a change were to occur that it would happen right away, though I could be wrong.

Here are some resources that go into further detail about scoring. good luck.

Thanks,

I was just curious to know. I've noticed a difference in my score in the past after I managed to get a negative or two removed. Of course those were more recent than the ones I just got removed (5 years old) so you might have a point there. Still, it would be nice to see a rise in number, especially since I've gone from 12 negatives down to 1 new one(which just popped up)

Also look for new items (inqs) or changes to your balances that might contribute to a lower score-at least for the short term. Also, you gotta give time for everything to cycle thru and report. I'd give it like 30 days or so...

yep 2 new inqs dropped my TU score down 2 points but they are back up to the same score it was before the 3 charge-offs disappeared.

30 days? Don't know if I can wait that long, just so excited to see my credit finally getting back up there where it used to be :woohoo: I know, I know...patience :)

The most important thing to understand is that removing negative credit items does not necessarily raise your score.

It is possible for an increase but there are more important factors involved.

Your credit score is based on responsible credit behavior and LONG credit histories.

You have to be doing positive things so that your score can increase.

Taking away negative credit items does not necessarily do this.

If you credit sucks big green donkey [EXPLETIVE DELETED] and you have no LONG credit histories or good positive trade lines, then removing a negative credit item may not do much for you...

Just to give you an idea of how screwy the scoring system is....I got a chargeoff from 1999 removed from my bureau reports via litigation....it actually DROPPED my FICO scores/Beacon ratings because the tradeline was so old that it was establishing "long" credit history, even though it was a derogatory.

It was actually better to leave the item on my report than remove it.

You are all absolutely right! My charge-offs that I managed to get taken off TU tanked my Fako scores, just had a collection removed from my Equifax CR, tanked my Fako scores about 20 points. :(

This calculating system is weird xshotx

Trying to re-establish credit to build up my scores but my charge-offs (although they are all over 6 years old and falling off next year), are making it quite difficult to obtain credit. So far, been able to get Ochard bank MC.

Even my Credit Union turned me down because of it, I wrote a goodwill letter but they still refused  They offered me a secured card, I'd rather take a secured loan.
