I am in the process applying for mortgage and I found a $110 med collection account on my wife's credit so I called up the hospital and paid it with an agreement that the hospital would call the CA and they would remove it from my wife's report. Well this was about 4 days ago and since on PG they've created another account on EQ so now she has two on EQ, and her score's have gone down. What is the best way to go about to make sure that this comes of her credit and soon?

Honestly, a 4 day turnaround is not likely. It does take some time to contact the CA and accomplish this. It can take up to 90 days for the TL to be deleted once this is accomplished.

Therefore, what you need to do is contact the Hospital and have them send you a letter clearly staing the agreement. Then send it to the CA and ask them for a letter stating they are deleting. Once you have that, send it with a letter to the CRA's and ask for it to be deleted. This will speed the process. At the same time, you can give the LO a copy for their records to show the item is being deleted. A letter from the Hospital should be sufficient for the lender, but, not the CRA as they need the reporting party's name on the letter in the letterhead.

Another option is to compose a HIPPAA letter to the Hospital stating that you had agreed to pay this debt directly to them so as to protect your rights, and, for that reason, you expect them to honor the agreement. Basically what you are doing is reminding them you retained all rights under HIPPAA. Therefore, they must recall debt immediately from the CA or you will file the complaint. Go to at least page 30+ of this section and look for the thread titled "????? About HIPPAA".
