tammi
I received a letter from NCO stating they are collecting on a medical account. I called Central Financial Control and they told me that they assigned the account to NCO. I immediately DV'd NCO so they would not be able to put the account on my CRs. CFC already has a TL on my CRs. Anyway, I received a letter from NCO.Dear "tammi":Thank you for your recent communication. I can assure you that we are committed to assisting you, however, we have been unable to locate the matter you have referenced from the information we have been provided. Please provide us with further identifying information such as your social security number, the name of the original creditor, the creditor's account number and/or reference number and the billing address of the account. A copy of any correspondence you may have received from us would also be of assistance. Kindly contact me at the above address with this information.Thank you for your anticipated cooperation regarding this request.I know I have seen this type of response from the CA on this board before, but I cannot find it. Any sample letters out there that I can use to respond to this letter?
willingtocope
Can't put my finger on the letter I remember, but if I recall it was in response to someone who had just found a CA on their CR and simply sent a DV to the address. If they sent you a letter, did you send them a copy along with your DV? Is yes, then they obviously can't validate, so respond with a "this is what you sent me, if that doesn't identifiy what we're talking about, then go away"...If you didn't send them a copy, then I'd suggest DV'ing them again with just that copy. DO NOT provide any of the info they've requested...its their job to prove they've got the right person...
tammi
They sent me a letter, but I did not send a copy of it with my DV letter. So, I should send them a response to the above letter with a copy of the original letter I received from them?
willingtocope
Exactly. Do not provide them with any more info than is in their original letter.
admin
I'd just proceed with the debt validation technique, they haven't produced any DV info so they shouldn't be a) contacting you to collect and reporting this on your credit report. tammi
They have not yet put it on my CRA. This was the first notice that I received, so I immediately DV'd them so they would not report it to the CRA. Actually, there is another company (CFC) that is reporting it. Can CFC legally report it to the CRA if they no longer own the account?
