How do I Remove Lates?

I have gotten lates removed from my credit report before by disputing with the CRA.

The only drawback is that you run the risk of getting the entire trade line removed. Trans Union is trigger happy on zapping good positive trade lines and I have had plenty of bad experiences with TU.

My first approach would be to contact the creditor and explain to them that this is a mistake. You are going to have to lie through your teeth and come up with some plausible stories on why they are wrong.

If after you have completely exhausted every possible angle, then I would attempt using a goodwill letter in getting the late removed.

I will second that, Ravenous! TU is quick to delete on this matter.

I also agree to send the letter to the OC first. But, I will add that if you were, in fact, late, as reported, compose the letter referencing how you realize you failed and have learned your lesson, and have since paid on time for the past XX months, blah, blah, BOO HOO. Due to this, would they consider removing the late as you plan to purchase a home in the near future and this could affect the interest rate that is offered to you.

If this failed by either way, then send a dispute to the CRA's during CHOD and see what happens. One thing to remember is when the CRA sends the dispute to the OC, some rep is just checking what is in the system. They do not look at any notations, such as, your calling to tell them the payment would be late, which was accepted and not held against you, and authorized by the Credit Manager. This is my main reason for dealing wiht OC first.
