workinninetofive
Hi all,I have been reading the board for a little bit.. but just registered. I have disputed info with EQ & TU. I sent EQ "this is not mine" ltr. I got a couple of deletes. A couple more came back "verified". So, I am on step two with them. I just looked at my TU and EX reports. My TU is a total mess. There are tons of things on there that I don't even recognize. So, I used the initial sample ltr & sent that in. I even disputed the lates. I read something about TU deleting the whole TL.. now I am worried to death.. I need some of those TL's. What do I do in the case that they just hit delete on the lates. Is there a way to fight it? I haven't sent the EX or EQ late dispute ltrs yet. How should I go about those 2 with late disputes? Thanks in advance!
Ahntara
If I understand correctly, you are worried about the CRA's deleting the entire TL and not just the disputed late payments, thus losing account history and possibly making the length of time you have had open credit much "younger", which impacts your credit score. Another issue to worry about is that any CA that doesn't get deleted, gets updated (not re-aged). This means the status date, or the date it was last reported is NOW and comes within the last 12 month period, which makes it affect your credit score big time!Unfortunately, it's like a roll of the dice. These are just a couple of the chances you take when you start trying to repair your credit. And they aren't the worst things that can happen either. You are gonna take some hits in this battle. Do the Feng Shui thing and learn how to overcome them. For older accounts with late payments, consider whether or not to GW the OC, instead of disputing with the CRA, in order to preserve the length of time you have had open credit. If you have already begun the process, make sure that you have other positive credit to offset any negative information that still shows. Lots of people just give up when they have issues. Your score always factors in ALL the data on you, so make sure there is a balance.Develope your strategy with consideration for the next step IF CA's get "verified". Know that this is a process. It is the culmination of the war that will determine your experience and your final score, not just the first round. Good luck!
CW
disputing the lates sometimes removes the tradeline with TU... this did happen to me. Luckily it wasn't my oldest tradeline. As for the CA being new status ... I don't care about a new status date.... my intent is to remove all collections. As long as it doesn't re-age then it will drop off after the seven years. If they try to re-age then you have a fdcpa violation. keep your fingers crossed on the tl not being deleted
workinninetofive
Hi,Thanks so much for the push in the right direction. I promise that I am not a dummy or lazy.. I just hope that I can do this on my own. I am trying for a 640 by the end of April (middle score mortgage). I will send a goodwill ltr to the older accounts.. does anyone have a general goodwill ltr that I can use? How sappy does this thing need to be? I just hope the others aren't deleted.. Is there anything that I can do if TU just deletes the whole thing? I know that I can sue if they reage it. I am just sick & tired of these people. They can really ruin lives.
