anti-something
if you have the ability, record the phone call when they call next, get as much info as you can without giving them any info (like dont confirm a SS#, or that you ever had an account with whoever they are collecting for)ask them for an address for correspondence and ask them to send you out something in writing so you can go thru your records to see if anything matches up, but maintain a 'i'm really confusd and dont know anything about this' attitudeif you dont have the ability to record i suggest getting your CRS (ok, do that anyway) and see if they are reporting anything. anti-something
PennsylvaniaPennsylvania requires the consent of all parties. 18 Pa. Cons. Stat. Ann. Sec. 5704(4) with the following exception: any individual may record a phone conversation without the other party's consent if:The non-consenting party threatens the life or physical well being of the consenting party, or any member of his/her family. The non-consenting party commits any criminal action (the statute specifically uses the example of telling the consenting party that they have marijuana they want the consenter to buy, but does state ANY criminal act). Felony penalties may be imposed for violation of the Pennsylvania statutejust tell them you are recording the call and if they do not agree they must hang up.
