skyygirl
One of the associate benefits with my new job is that they have a banking sector and we can open checking accounts with no fees, direct deposit, etc. I have a checking account with Navy Federal CF that I have had for over 15 years, but they have limited my access because I went through bk7 and my over draft protection loan was discharged--I tried to reaffirm, but the judge would not let me. Thus, I no longer have my check card; online banking or atm access and I would like to keep this account, but open a more functional checking account with the bank associated with my place of employment. I also have some NSF checks that were discharged through my bk. My problem is that I am somewhat afraid to try and open an account and be turned down because of my prior banking history. I have never had any problem with returned checks prior to my bk, but am afraid that a bad checksystems report would prevent me from opening this new account. Or would they even check if it is an employee benefit?
Ravenous Wolf
You are going to have to find out right away what Chex Systems has on you.And what the major databases have on you too, like ScanJet, TeleCheck, etc... Most of those are also based on your driver's license.
DHK
Here was the WFB policy for team members:"Chexsystems qualification is waived because of team member status."I opened several team member accounts due to negative chex info. However, it is also because they are handling our customer's money and info. If we didn't trust them enough with that, why not their own account? skyygirl
I was extremely nervous on Friday when I went into my employer's bank to open my checking account...thinking "well, I've been turned down before..." and 15 minutes later, I was out the door with my pack of starter checks for my new checking account!! I guess you don't know what you can do--if you don't try. I sweated out the credit check for this position--even though I am not in a money-handling role (although, I control the petty cash for out department...go figure!). there IS life after bk!
