I'm just starting to fix my credit and I've been using this site for help with how to go about it and it's been REALLY helpful... My question is: One of my creditor bills is for a trip to the emergency room in Sept. 2001; when I talked to the creditors they said that it was a medical bill from the hospital for Sept. 2002... Now, I've requested my medical history from the hospital (which will show that I was never in the hospital in 2002)... Will this be enough to right this bill off?

Thanx,

Becky

Well, if its the hospital (OC) that's trying to collect from you then they will probably get the date right. If its a collection agency (CA), then they might screw it up. In either case, you should write whoever a letter (DO NOT call them) and ask for complete details regarding this bill...a DV letter. If its a CA and comes back with the wrong date, you can legitmately claim its not yours. If it appears on your Credit Report (CR) under the wrong date, you can also legitmately claim its not yours.

This may be enough to scare away the CA and get your CR fixed...but, maybe not....just write your letters and see what happens....
