business accounts

i own a business name, since i went and registered it to stop someone from suing me under that name hehe.

but now, in the last two days i have received 3 CC offers for my 'business' obviously i have no business, but what about applying for these cards? the 'business' would a sole prop, so would it assist my personal credit journey to get a card in 'business name'?

First of all, if it's a sole p, you're responsible for whatever happens under that name. If someone is going to sue you, the name isn't going to stop them. Sole p owners are the same as just a person. (I don't really know what you meant by 'stop them from suing') :?

If you applied for these cards, you would have to give them your social and they *would* pull your report(s). Even if you were a corp, they'd pull your credit. You can get some small-time credit with just your biz info, but you'd have to get an EIN and become a legit business.

Besides, as tempting as it may be, if you have no business and you apply for a card under a business name...it's fraud.

We don't want you in jail!! :D:wink:

the name stops them from maintaining the action (suing me and winning) under the tx business laws, because they used that name on the contract, to sue me under the contract they must prove they are 'that name' and quite simply, since i now own it, they cant prove they are 'that name' (its a theory that i wont know the true answer to until they try and sue me)

my question about applying for a card under the business name was more of a 'would it help my personal credit' than wanting to actually use the card for anything, theres no business so what would i buy? :)
