Inadeephole
Hi everyone.... I posted a while back re: bk and asked all kinds of questions. We haven't filed yet, but it's something we're still educating ourselves on. Anyway, I was wondering something. If I did file, would I still be able to qualify for a student loan (secured)? Or would filing nix that possiblitly? Or, what if I filed ch.7 while enrolled and attending school, having already been awarded a student loan for the school year, etc., could they refuse to disburse payments for future semesters of that student loan? Thank you for your help and time, I'm thankful for your imput and knowledge.smiles,m
Recovering Attorney
talk to your financial aid officer. If they can't give you a good answer, check with Sallie Mae or the federal Direct Program.
LadynRed
Student loans are not score-driven so a BK shouldn't be a problem. You can't file again for 6 years AND student loans are almost NEVER dischargable. Both means that BK shouldn't affect getting a student loan.
