pamelabe
How soon can I open up a checking, savings debit card acct after or during filing for BK? My current checking acct & sav acct are frozen so I have closed them both. My lawyer is filing next week for me so I really need a new place to start over and Im ready. LadynRed
There is nothing stopping you from opening a new bank account, just make sure there's not much in it on the day your lawyer files. You can't incur any new credit, but there's no restriction regarding new bank accounts.
pamelabe
No, Im just looking to start a checking acct and Im clear with the frozen (now closed) acct I have to not open it until he has filed and everything is well on its way to over. When would be a good time to open a charge card to start re-establishing my credit? I am not going to charge until Im ready to pay it off within a month and only to do that to get my credit score up. My spending habits changed 3 years ago when I originally walked away from my debt so Im definately not crazy.
