YankeeCop
I had to file for bankruptcy on 6/02 and it was discharged 10/02. I was looking throught my Experian credit report the other day and I noticed that they have a few of my old credit cards that were included in my Bankruptcy as a status of (Included in Bankruptcy Chap 7/ Account Charged off). And the date last reported shows 3/04. Does it make a differance that the wording (Account Charged Off) has an impact of my score and why if the Chap 7 was discharged on 10/02 why is it still being reported on as of 3/04? What should I do?
LadynRed
They are likely just reporting the STATUS - that it was included in bankruptcy. Was the account charged-off BEFORE you filed for BK ? If not, then the notation of 'charge-off" AFTER your BK filing date is not allowed and you should dispute it. Unless the creditor is FUSA, you should be able to get it corrected.Once the 'included in bankrutpcy (IIB)' notation is there, if the account WAS charged off prior to your BK, it will not hurt your score now, the BK trumps it.
