I pulled a free Experian report from another link here and saw the following potentally negative details.

AMEX

Account Number: Date Opened: 08/1999

Status: Closed/Account charged off.

CBUSASEARS

Account Number: Date Opened: 12/1992

Status: Open/Current, was past due 120 days.

HSBC/RS

Account Number: Date Opened: 04/1997

Status: Paid/Collection account.

MBNA AMERICA BANK NA

Account Number: Date Opened: 09/1996

Status: Paid in settlement/Current, was past due 30 days.

What is the best way to get these to go away. I had previously tried a few months ago disputing just as not mine but they came back verified

American Exprees I owe $311.00 and have a letter from that that they will not try to collect it. I got this letter in response to an offer to delete for payment after doing a not mine. When Experian tried to verify it they changed the Date of Status to 9/2004. Account history shows Charge Off as of 9-2004, 9-2003, 7-2000. So this will fall off on its own in three years.

Sears was 120 days late a long long time ago. I have been current since then. Shows 30 Days as of 10-1999 and 7-1999, 60 days as of 11-1999, 90 days as of 12-1999 and 120 days as of 1-2000. I don't know how badly this is hurtine me since it is over 4 yeas

HSBC/RS must be The Wiz or Radio Shack and as far as I know it never went into collections. There was no lates listed unlike toe other two entries. It shows Paid Collection as of 10/2001

MBNA has been paid off for over a year now. Shows 30 days as of 4-2001 closed at my request paid for less than full balance again does not show when went late.

Under accounts in Good Standing I have a few that say Paid in Settlement.

One is from AFI for a Cingular account that I paid but never admitted was my debt. I may have them here because it reports a Installment type, not collections and shows Date Opened 5/2003 and reported since 7/2001. How can it be reported prior to date opened? I tried to dispute this as well and it came back verified

With the chargeoff listed as 9/2004 I don't believe it will fall off in three years. Since the Date of Status was changed to 9/04 (called re-aging...a no-no) this TL, I believe, will hang around for another seven years unless you get it deleted before then. You need to send a strongly-worded letter to American Express and the CRA regarding the re-aging violation per the FCRA.

It's hurting less and less as the years tick by, but if your goal is a clean report then you might as well try a goodwill letter to Sears to see if they will delete the lates.

It would help to see how the entire TL is reporting so that we can see if there are any other errors that you can dispute. Is this account still open? Even if closed, I'd first try a goodwill letter.

Just as with your Radio Shack account, it would be helpful to see how the entire TL is reporting. The "closed at consumer's request" comment is better than "closed at credit grantor's request" but the "paid for less than full balance" is a FICO killer. Once again, I'd try a goodwill letter.

From personal experience, even though the CRA may list it as an Account in Good Standing, the negative comment still hurts FICO. Since EX says they have "verified" the misinformation (just by looking at the TL they can tell it isn't correct), you now need to send them a procedural request as to how they verified this information. There are steps to take after they respond, but do that first and then check back in here.

Regarding the American Express. After 7 years passes and I get Amex to send me a letter saying when it was charged off Experian has to remove it or they will be sued thats why I say it will fall off in three years.

My goal is to get the report as clean as I can. I don't want to piss off sears since they didn't drop me when I was defaulting on other accounts. at 3K they are my hightest CL

For HSBC/RS it is closed. I spoke to the OC and they said they would get it corrected, never did and I lost the letter they sent me.

How do I cut an paste the TL's from an Experian online report?

I hope it works that way for you, but from personal experience (and from what I've read, the personal experience of others) the CRAs only like to get their info directly from the horse's mouth (in your case, AmEx). What you need to work on right now is getting the chargeoff date of 9/04 corrected as that is clearly an error. Relying on AmEX to send you a letter in three years, and for EX to accept it as proof ... probably won't work.

That's why I suggested the goodwill letter. I've had some success with them. As an aside, to help your FICO you're keeping your Sears utilization at below 30%, right?

That's why you need to keep after them.

Left click at the beginning of the TL, drag down to the end, select "Edit" at top of page, then "Copy." Toggle over to your post and place cursor where you want to paste text. Once again Select "Edit" then "Paste."
